Fearless!!

1John 4:13-19
Love is so powerful a thing. Love at its perfection has enough power to drive out Fear. Fear is one of the greatest motivators of all times. We often do not the things we want to, or feel we should do, b/c of fear. It has such a hold on us. I take my children as an example, for they often are my teachers. My son Noah, he seems to be fearless, he climbs as high as can on any one object, he jumps from the tops of slides to see if he can clear the whole slide (thank God it is just a little tykes slide), he jumps up and down on countertops (no he is not allowed, but once again no fear of consequences) with not a care in the world. Not even fearing that he could fall or hurt himself. Just trust that mommy has been there before, and she will be there again, and occasionally experiencing the fall but realizes there is no need to fear, b/c the pain doesn't last long when you pick your self up, and get a hug from mom. The confidence is there again. A reassurance of my love for him, and he once again can be fearless. I realize that there is a lack of trust in my life for the Lord and I lack understanding of his love and how Powerful that is. Fear tends to motivate all of us. It is a crutch we like to fall back on, but if we were to let go and trust in the Lord, as Noah trust mommy, we would see that even if there is a bit of pain involved it is there to teach us something, but the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases it is always there. HE is love, so therefore by embracing him and trusting him we are embracing true love and all fear should melt away. I am thankful for the Lord and his unfailing, never ending, pure love. He is a hiding place so whom shall I fear. We can learn to keep going and know that he is there just like he always is, and those few falls that he doesn't catch us his love is still there to embrace us and to reassure us that we can keep going.
1John 4:13-19
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as he is, so our we in the world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Sarah, isn't it amazing how kids have no fear? I often wonder when it is in growing up that we suddenly discover fear and start clinging to it throughout life. I'm challenged as I watch Olivia and see how she doesn't live in fear -- no fear of man, no fear of getting hurt, no fear of the unknown (at least not most of the time). Great blog post -- great reminder and challenge!
